Who are Clean Planet’s Finalists?

Roy Boonen - Hawke's Bay MRF

Roy Boonen – Hawke’s Bay MRF Manager

Roy has been Clean Planet’s Commercial Cleaning Regional Master Franchisee for the Hawke’s Bay area since 2011, starting with a ‘green fields’ territory. There has been strong continual growth since he started, with annual growth of in excess of 20% in each of the last two years. Roy personally selected and now looks after 33 Individual Franchisees. They work across 180 sites which includes 22 schools in the region, the majority of the larger medical centers, Hawke’s Bay Regional Council, and a huge range of small, medium, and large businesses and organizations. Clean Planet is now the largest cleaning provider in Hawke’s Bay, with a waiting list of potential franchisees wanting to join. Roy runs his business with the help of his Field Manager – Nicola Moore. “The systems and approach give us the ability to run this large, demanding, and complex business with just two people”- say’s Roy.

Nicola Moore - Filed Work Manager - CleanPlanet - HawkesBay

Nicola Moore – HawkesBay Field Work Manager

Nicola Moore works for Clean Planet in the role of Commercial Cleaning Field Manager in Hawke’s Bay Region and supports 33 Individual Franchisees in Hawke’s Bay. Nichola’s role was created to support the franchisees. Additional dedicated support for the franchisees facilitated growth and success for all stakeholders. She works with each of them on being successful with their businesses, through delivering brilliant service to their clients and making sure that their clients ‘love them’ and do not just see them as the provider of a commodity service. This includes delivering training, guiding them on how to be profitable in their business, and being available to help when issues arise. Nicola adds “I am heavily focused on brand alignment ensuring that the sustainability message and practice come through”.

Tatiana Chernysh - Hawkes Bay Franchisee Owner

Tatiana Chernysh – Hawkes Bay Franchise Owner

Tatiana emigrated from Russia to New Zealand to join her mother, sister, and her family. She wanted to work with a New Zealand-owned company that had environmental values and that’s how she came across Clean Planet. She was the first to seize the chance to own the first non-Auckland franchise. As a trained nurse as well as a trained accountant, these skills set of hers were very useful as she established her new business. “It was a huge step to start a new business in a new country, in a new language. It was scary and challenging but I had wonderful support from Roy Boonen, the Hawkes Bay Regional Master Franchisee” – say’s Tatiana. She has created a successful franchise currently looking after 16 clients. Getting to know the clients personally and as many of their staff as she can has always been a part of how Tatiana operates. “I find that it is very important not to just be the invisible cleaners who do a great job. We want our clients to know us, who we are, and about us. And we like to hear about them as well” – Tatiana adds.

Ernesto & Anna Lopez Clean planet South Auckland Franchisee

Ernesto & Anna Lopez – South Auckland Franchise Owners

Lopez ran a successful marketing company in El Salvador before politics forced him to leave the country he loved. Ernesto is Clean Planet’s biggest franchisee with 15 employees and he is also a pastor in his local church. When Ernesto & his wife Anna first came to New Zealand, they worked as cleaners at schools in Remuera. “It was hard to say goodbye to the schools. But when we had saved enough money to buy a business and Clean Planet was highly recommended. We talked with them, and we liked the business. Cleaning was a business we knew well, and it was something we were good at, and we wanted our own business to give us some security” – says Ernesto. South Auckland Franchisee Ernesto turned over $500,000 in 2020, making it the largest franchise in the country. In terms of the benefits of becoming a franchise owner with Clean Planet, Ernesto emphasized how important it is to be professional in every way and with every person you meet.

We wholeheartedly congratulate the finalists representing Clean Planet in the Westpac New Zealand Franchise Awards 2021, we wish you all the very best!
