The health of people and the planet inspired Bay resident Roy Boonen to bring New Zealand’s only Asthma Foundation accredited cleaning company to Hawke’s Bay.
Clean Planet is a commercial cleaning company which also produces its own cleaning products.
“It’s about cleaning effectively with good environmental outcomes and good health outcomes for the same price,” Mr Boonen said.
The company worked with The Asthma Foundation to get the “sensitive choice” tick.
“They are very selective about endorsing companies that are making a significant difference to people with respiratory illness or asthma.”
Mr Boonen was looking for a new challenge for a start-up business with an environmental focus when he decided to start a branch in Hawke’s Bay.
Clean Planet has been operating in Auckland for ten years (in 2018) and has customers ranging from malls and industrial plants two-and three person offices.
“The response from businesses has been very positive. Everyone is thinking about sustainability,” he said.
“It’s good for the health of the staff and customers, and the well-being of our planet”
